Video Phone Available to All

Patrons of the Modesto-Stanislaus public library can now enjoy a video phone. This feature was the result of the sustained efforts of DRAIL Independent Living Specialist Lisa Archibeque.

Persons with hearing impairments can make calls to the
SVRS interpreter. The call is then connected. The caller can watch the interpreter and respond through the video phone.
In case both the caller and the receiver are hard of hearing, they can directly communicate with each other using sign language.
The video phones are especially useful for persons who are hard of hearing and do not have computers at home.
Sorenson VRS, the company that provided the video phone, also offers free video phones to persons who are hard of hearing and use sign language. For more information please visit their website or contact DRAIL.
